Nazish is the founder and Executive Director of Muslim Climate Watch. In this pivotal role, she empowers Muslims around the world to become ardent advocates for climate and environmental justice, and combatting the climate crisis with solutions embedded in Islamic principles and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). With a Bachelor of Commerce in Energy Management and MSc. in Sustainable Energy Development from University of Calgary, Canada, Nazish has diverse professional experience in energy, environment and sustainability.

As a founding board member of Muslim Climate Watch, Houda is deeply passionate about nature, environmental science, and literature. With a bachelors in Biology and a masters in Environmental Science from the University of Calgary and the University of Toronto respectively, she embodies the role of a Khalifah (steward) through her work, advocacy, and lifestyle. She is also an environmental planner focusing on Indigenous engagement, championing circular economy, environmental justice, waste reduction, and traditional knowledge preservation. Based in Vancouver, on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish People, she enjoys exploring nearby mountains, parks, and islands in her free time.

As a founding board member of Muslim Climate Watch, Juwayriah is committed to elevating the discourse on climate issues within the Muslim community. As an enthusiastic professional in the realm of digital content writing and strategy, she has consistently merged her passion for environmental sustainability with expertise in communication. Juwayriah also serves as Editorial Producer at TIME Magazine, and together with her previous experience at New York Public Radio, she has honed her skills in crafting compelling narratives and managing diverse teams.

Hebah is the Founder and President of VisionaryEdge, a political firm providing policy, legislative, political, and other services to global and domestic NGOs, foundations, and political campaigns in Washington D.C. and other states. She has substantial experience in public health, environment and climate justice policy, legislative affairs, community & grassroots organizing, and political strategy. She has served in leadership roles with a number of organizations including Just Solutions Collective, The Sunrise Project, Sierra Club, Green New Deal Network, Congressional Progressive Caucus Center, Michigan Public Health Institute, as well as political campaigns across the country. Hebah holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan.

Halima is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering, specializes in researching air quality, atmospheric chemistry, and the effects of air pollution on human health. She is interested in interdisciplinary climate change literacy and STEM communication. In her spare time, she enjoys creating comics and zines. Halima joins Muslim Climate Watch as a Research Fellow.

With a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from University of Houston, Abdul is interested in exploring the intersection of strategy, technology, and sustainability. His previous experience includes working in strategy and business operations space. Abdul is passionate about working together towards a resilient and equitable future by charting a just transition while addressing the climate crisis.

As a recent environmental science graduate from University of Calgary, Alberta, Aya is passionate about sustainability and climate change, and aims to seek justice for underrepresented vulnerable communities on the front line to the climate crisis. She is interested in applying a post-colonial, Islamic perspective to understand modern environmental and climate issues holistically.

Meet Aldi, our graphic design genius who has been passionate about visual design since childhood. The ability to convey a powerful story through simple design always fascinated him. With a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Semarang State University, Aldi resides in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he delves into the captivating intersection of technology and creative expression.

With a passion for soil health, permaculture, and food sovereignty, Fathiya is dedicated to advancing regenerative practices and understanding factors that contribute to making a community ecologically dignified and resilient. In her leisure time, she can’t resist in the pursuit of learning about how to make things from scratch, from tiny homes to spices. She is based in United Kingdom.

After graduating with a Masters of Arts in Middle East Studies from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, Reem undertook a range of internships within the global health and international development sectors. She is interested in exploring sustainable development. She enjoys collecting early edition books and reading travel literature.

Born to Libyan parents and growing up in Cairo, Khalil graduated with Bachelors of Political Science, minoring in Environmental Studies, from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is committed to addressing the climate and ecological crisis using solutions rooted in Islam. Khalil is also a practitioner of permaculture, with a Permaculture Design training and certification obtained from Zaytuna College, Berkeley, California.

Tasneem works to advance climate adaptation and resilience across the District of Columbia. She is passionate about sustainable food systems; and has led projects locally to promote food justice in schools and internationally to advocate for safer aquaculture practices for her Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale.

Mediha is a recent graduate with an Upper Second-Class Honours Degree in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She in interested in exploring the intersection of environmental and societal issues, particularly the unfair impacts of climate change on marginalized groups. She is a football fan and enjoys reading books by minority ethnic writers.

Fildzah holds a bachelor degree in international relations and currently pursuing master's degree in environment, culture, and communication. Residing in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, she is passionate about applying her expertise in Islam and climate change research towards climate justice for Muslims. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling and visiting museums.
